Darn beetles are killing my pretty flowers!

These amazing looking delicate little beetles are destroying my zinnias, one leaf at a time. I know, I know, at least they aren't destroying the zucchini right next to the zinnias, or the tomatoes, but come on! I want to have it all, vegetables AND flowers in tact.

  Flower carnage.

At least they haven't eaten all of my pretty flowers... yet. Now enjoy some pretty flower pictures.

There it goes again, on the hunt to kill more of my pretty flowers.

Saturday Farmer's Market

We have recently discovered a farmer's market that sells the most amazing donuts - the melt in your mouth kind. Just delicious! They also have a pick-up band that plays some great folk music. We were singing along to "Country Road" in between devouring the donuts.

Of course, I always end up leaving with a bit of a wish that I could buy all of the flowers there. Some I have never seen before like the cabbage roses or the green puffs (not sure what they are called), and some bring back great memories of my wedding - check out the red coxcomb. A great way to spend the Saturday morning and get away from the city for a few hours, but we were back doing laundry - Louise was trying to help.

I hope you are enjoying the Indian summer we are having. It's just gorgeous outside! Happy Saturday.

Flowers for my day

Tim gave me flowers for my birthday. We had a great day. He made me breakfast (with bacon!!), we went to Mass, then had a picnic in the park and saw F16's fly over soldier field, and then rounded out the day with some amazing red velvet cupcakes at my favorite bakery in Chicago, Sweet Mandy B's.
